Health Improvement Practitioner HIP

Personalised wellbeing goals—from lifestyle tweaks, and maintaining good mental health to social support. Think of them as your co-pilot for navigating life’s challenges and making meaningful changes. HIPs don’t just talk—they help you build a wellbeing plan with clear, achievable steps. You leave each session with something concrete to work on, and they’ll follow up to keep you on track.

  • Immediate support: You can often see a HIP the same day you visit your GP—no referral.
  • Mental health check-ins: Feeling anxious, stressed, low, or overwhelmed? HIPs offer brief, practical strategies to help you cope.
  • Lifestyle changes: Whether you’re trying to quit smoking, reduce alcohol, improve sleep, or manage chronic conditions, HIPs help you set realistic goals and stick to them.
  • Relationship and identity support: They can help with parenting stress, loneliness, gender or cultural identity questions, and more.
  • Free and accessible: If you’re enrolled with the general practice, seeing a HIP is completely free.

Sessions are focused on what matters most to you that day.

You’ll leave with a personal wellbeing plan—something tangible to work on between visits.
